ES, a new tool for collecting object-oriented design
metrics from Java and C++, has been open-sourced by the NRC under
the GNU General Public License. This makes the metrics analysis
tool, built on top of a complete IDE (Source Navigator), publicly
available to the software engineering community with no royalty
fees. The tool collects coupling, inheritance, and size metrics.
The metrics have been shown in previous work to be good predictors
of class fault-proneness.
